Hope and Clark Fork
Drive about 30 minutes east on Highway 200 and you'll arrive in beautiful Hope, perched mostly on a mountain side with breathtaking views of Lake Pend Oreille. Drive another 10 minutes or so and you'll be in Clark Fork, a small community nestled next to the Clark Fork River feeding Lake Pend Oreille. Hope boosts a beautiful marina and several good restaurants right on the water. Many famous actors and others buy second homes in Hope, a gorgeous get-a-way even for the wealthy.
Clark Fork has a down to earth type of community with farmers, ranchers and those that want to be left alone and enjoy the beauty around them.
Most shopping will be done in Ponderay or Sandpoint as there's not many retail establishments in these two small towns. The drive from Sandpoint to Hope follows the Pack River and eventually opens up on to Lake Pend Oreille. You'll love seeing the small islands dotting Lake Pend Oreille in this section of the lake. Fishing can be good as well. If you own a boat in Sandpoint, take it out across the lake to the Hope marina and have lunch at Lou's or Ivano's. You'll also enjoy camping on the Hope peninsula and going for a swim at the beach. It's a fun place to see!
